The Best Electronic Music of August and September 2024

  • Loidis – One Day – [Incienso]

Six years after the release of the “A Parade, In The Place I Sit, The Floating World (& All Its Pleasures)” EP on anno Records, Brian Leeds, aka Huerco S., returns to the Loidis project with his debut album “One Day” on Incienso.

  • Eden Burns & Christopher Tubbs – Burns & Tubbs Vol. III [Public Possesion]

Eden Burns is back and brings along his old companion Christopher Tubbs. Together they follow the path of Ulysses, beguiled by Sirens, fed by by Bacchus they won’t stop until they have reached the highest of highs taking their place right next to Jupiter himself. Long live hedonsim!

  • World Rally Blue – Tales Of The Tarmac [Promise]

The growing legend of World Rally Blue only becomes apparent once the tarmac mirage dissipates. His screeching burnt pneumatic treads ink doppler revelations along the shrapnel-stacked tracks of Northern Indiana’s hallowed speedways. Few were surprised when World Rally Blue smoked a hotly-contested field at Promise’s inaugural Demo-Listen™ Derby. Tales of the Tarmac is his latest taste of victory.

  • Seli -Nix [WVWV]

We dive in to the profound exploration of unknown depths that lie beneath the surface of our perception, teeming with abstract maritime entities and spirits; we soon stumble upon Nix, the creation of prolific mexican DJ and producer, Seli.

Deep into the sea realm, the pulsating rhythm alongside the nostalgic melody lines weave in and out with glitching vocals and brooding energy. Same motto carries out whenever she hops on a pair of CDJs, with that same conviction is the approach Seli made for Nix, bass and speed underpinning the work with a powerful sound, perfect for both late-night clubbing and introspective listening.

  • Session Restore, Bernhard Hudalla Pathfinder EP [Mojuba Records]

At the end of the day, it’s about human touch, personal connection and emotional reactions. It is with great pleasure and more than happy to welcome Session Restore and Bernhard Hudalla to the family with a superb debut 12” for the Mojuba sublabel a.r.t.less.

A friendship and collaboration that connects musical dots between Hanover and Leipzig results in the Pathfinder EP with four excellent tracks that range from the finest dubbed out to heartwarming, melodic deep Techno. As always, let the music do the talking and enjoy!

  • Picture – Banana [Help Recordings]

A new record between dub, ambient and techno from Picture, better known as DJ Central.

  • Emmer & Einkorn – Karst [Biodiversity]

Emmer & Einkorn are another mysterious duo operating in the ambient dub techno department: with previous releases with their solo aliases Human Resources & Mallard respectively on popular underground dance music labels Devil’s Work (Idle Hands) and Rhythm Section INTL, not to mention a prior EP on Esker Tapes back in 2020.

  • Jonnnah – The Next Kingdom LP [Second End Records]

Embark on an ethereal journey with Second End Records’ inaugural release, as the new entity unveils today “The Next Kingdom” LP, from label-founder Jonnnah.

As a manifest of SER ethos, the Lyon-based Producer’s second personal album is also a pure merging of his own touch: mesmerizing soundscapes, pulsating rhythms, and enchanting synth melodies. From Jonnnah’s intricate layers of instrumentation and melancholic vocals, arise the fragile yet powerful aesthetic encapsulated in the contemporary electronic scene. Boundaries between genres and emotions dissolve through the prism of digital hybridizations, and each track of this twelve-act offering alternately conceal or lay bare what’s deeply rooted in Jonnnah’s soul.

  • Mu Tate – Wanting Less [Warm Winters]

Latvian expat mu tate joins the Warm Winters Ltd. roster with his vaporous, dubbed out excursions. Utilising his trademark crackling field recordings, soporific atmospheres, swooping sub-bass and cascading synths, ‘wanting less’ is as weightless and gorgeous as his previous outings on Experiences Ltd. & Utter.

More so than ever before though, he enters more jazz-tinged, melodic territory, without forgoing the traces of (post)club music appearing throughout his discography. This is probably mu tate at his least hallucinatory, yet the music still tingles the deepest recesses of the mind & explores deeply nocturnal atmospheres. Pure bliss!
